The Great Calamity |
Personality |
The Great Calamity is a creature with a distorted female voice. She was once a carefree and happy individual, but definitely a very curious one. She was at first, gentle and kind, mindful of her brother and her mother. She was also extremely creative and felt the need to do more than the simple plans her mother had given them.
After she began to create humans though, she began to become more and more afraid and felt the need to validate her existence. She still trusted her brother and loved him, and she was always soft spoken around him while slowly becoming a goddess of war. After her brother cast her down however, she soon became spiteful and hateful of everything he did and created. She became cruel and shoved the same pain onto others, plotting her escape and her brother's down fall. |
History |
After she and her brother were created from the earth and their "mother" fell silent, she felt lonely and afraid of the unknown. She began to ponder the meaning of her existence. She soon felt drawn to create more than what their mother had said, and created clever humans as her brother created all sorts of beautiful and wonderful things. At first, she was content to simply watch her creation, however that fear of the unknown was still there.
She began to seek validation to her existence and began visiting the creatures below, soon being recognized as a goddess and worshiped as one. She liked this and decided it was her purpose, allowing the humans to send her offerings and treat her like even her brother didn't. For a while she was happy with this and her brother seemed happy for her. However as humans became smarter and smarter they began to wage war with each other, creating weapons unlike any she had seen. She began to feel a dark sort of pride in her clever creations, and she began to help those she decided she favored in wars. Those that refused to believe in her or her brother she struck down without mercy, slowly becoming a goddess of war. Humans began dark sacrifices and other rituals in some areas, which gained a morbid sort of interest from her, and in others they were kind and joyful of life. She was fascinated with how utterly different they were, and her pride for them grew. She began to grow complacent and could sometimes be wicked, interfering in the world when she was bored and doing things simply because she could. For a while her fear of the unknown was replaced utterly by her glee at being able to do whatever she pleased with the mortals down below. Her brother however was not pleased with her, though she didn't notice how his attitude changed. She could no longer hear her mother and didn't exactly care, but she was horrified when her brother cast her down and sealed her away in the sea. In her thrashing to get out and escape, she caused the sea to begin its ever raging path. As her brother began to judge the souls of the dead, and wicked wolves also appeared in her prison, she realized what her brother had done, and used the souls to look into the world beyond. She was angry that he had taken what she saw as her reason for existence and destroyed it, and angry as well that he had gotten hurt doing it. She hated that he talked about her like she was conceited and evil, yet he had created wolves after his own image, and let them run wild. She was angry that he allowed some of them to use magic and other powers when she hadn't even given that ability to the humans she had made. She both loved and hated him, and her twisted mind grew more so. She tortured those wolves that came to her, turning their already wicked mind to madness and twisting them to believe she was their war like goddess. She began plotting the end of her brother's world from within her prison, vowing to unleash the ghouls of her prison with her back onto the earth to bring eternal hell. The Great Calamaity, once known as The Great Mother of humanity, began to plot to capture her brother and destroy his world for destroying hers. She used the energy of the tortured souls to reach out into the world, whispering plots and accusations to the demons and angels, who were the most powerful of her brother's children. Then, when the royals got together, assassins killed their pups and began the war. Her brother refused to get involved, simply letting them fight and hoping for it to end. She continued to whisper lies, all of which were unheard and the listener would think was their own ideas since she was so far away, which continued the war and soon destroyed all knowledge of what had originally started the war. Eventually she knew her brother would act to stop this war, and when he became distracted she intended to use the power she gathered to finally cast a spell to unleash herself and her army back onto the earth to destroy what her brother had created. She even vowed to destroy her mother for not hearing her cries or trying to help her, unaware that she had lost the ability to communicate with her mother. |
Abilities |
Like her brother, She can summon many various weapons to fight with as well as use powers that are like the elements. Unlike her brother, her anxiety of the unknown kept her from trying to communicate with or ever go near the dead, so its unclear what happened to the humans she had created in the first place. Though life and death was natural for them, it was completely foreign to a creature who couldn't die.
She does however have a silver tongue, and she is very well spoken. She could often talk her brother into just about anything, and she could do the same for the humans she had created. Because of this, she began to grow psychic powers that allowed her to speak to people or make them think what she wanted them to. Without quite realizing it, she began to develop powers of mind control and others that could cause mental pain while the body was left fine. Tansa is the first "Shade Seer", giving her the ability to see the true nature of the hearts of mortals. Immortal creatures like herself, her brother and her mother cannot be seen. However having the ability to know exactly what any creature on the earth is like, she can use this to find which wolves are darker and more willing to listen to her dark whispers. |
