Personality |
Nel was once a happier and less wary young hybrid, however she was never exactly the happiest or kindest pup. Her mother was a normal wolf while her father was a demon, making her a Normal-Demon Hybrid. During her life after moving into the Swift River Pack, she became slightly more open to the idea of letting other wolves into her life, but she remained guarded and poised.
Because of this, Nel often comes across as almost always angry, when in reality she is snapping in fear or insecurity. She doesn't like to feel like her life is out of control and seems to always growl at wolves who seem happy because she views it as luxury she never had. Unable and unsure how to express her feelings, she simply calls such things "weaknesses" and continues on with her life. She has a softer side however, one that is unfortunately not usually seen because she does not trust easily. She is willing to protect those she cares about no matter what the cost to herself. This means that her aura, or the shade of her heart, is a dark red orange color. While she can be sweet and kind, she uses her perceived anger and rigid wariness to hide her inability to show her true emotions. Because she is so guarded, her aura comes across in a way that matches those emotions. |
Earlier Life |
Nel was born to her parents with two siblings, however as famine and drought swept the land, her father left the family behind to fend for themselves. This resulted in the death of both of her siblings, which Nel was not yet even old enough to remember. Nel's first memories are of her heartbroken mother terrified for her remaining pup's safety and unsure how to proceed with life with the disaster still so close. Having survived the famine drought and moving from the now decimated area, the pup still couldn't forget how close her mother had been go giving up and leaving her to die.
Nel still remained optimistic about the future however, and continued to travel happier with her mother from place to place. While she never understood why her mother kept her at a constant distance from any other wolves in the area, she wanted desperately to get closer to others of her kind. While her mother was no longer looking, she ventured closer to a Normal Wolf pack and was injured terribly because of it. She managed to return to her mother, who finally told her daughter about her true heritage. Nel became angry and spiteful after this, wanting nothing more than to disappear off the face of the earth. She hated her father for leaving them behind to die, and she hated her mother for letting him go and never telling her the truth. She hated the other wolves for hating her without getting to know her, and she hated the war for driving her father out here in the first place. She assumes her father left to rejoin the war instead of worrying about his family, and she understands why its treason to leave your mate behind more than most wolves because she's seen first hand what that does to someone. She continues to grow up, pushing people away and snapping at them. As she grows, she continues to have terrible after terrible encounter with other wolves, which slowly makes her push others away more and more. Eventually, after the death of her mother, she finds herself even more angry and the world and fearful of more hurt. Worse than that though, she's more afraid of being alone. Too unable to trust other wolves, she tries living on her own for a while and trying to hunt. However her coloring makes it difficult for her to hunt normally and she's forced to use and develop her powers. While living in the area of the Swift River Pack, she meets other Hybrid wolves and sees the pack from afar, but never tries to get involved with them. She continues to live alone and watch the other wolves from a distance. However as increasing attacks by Angels and Demons come, she finds herself unable to hunt even with her own power and reluctantly agrees to join the Swift River Pack. While she is unhappy with the idea that they wanted her around only for her powers, the promise of safety in numbers and food is more tempting than her dislike for the rest of the world. She's made an Omega of the pack and quickly meets Mal. The two nearly immediately become friends despite the fact that Nel prefers to keep the world at a distance. This is because they share similar pain from one of their parents leaving the other, though it came in different ways. He understands what its like to be shunned and hated for something he had no control over, and Nel finds his attitude towards her refreshing in a way. He is unafraid of her and is always confident in what he's saying as being true. He's often rash and jumps into things too fast, but he doesn't push her away or hurt her. Because of this, the two become inseparable nearly the instant they meet. After an Angel attacks the pack, Mal and Nel manage to drive it back together and save it. This quickly boosts their reputations throughout the pack and has them rising through the ranks. As the Normal Wolves begin to see how good it is to have Hybrid wolves in the back for extra protection, as well as the talents that each of them now has, they find themselves having new jobs and being more well loved. Nel slowly finds herself becoming attached to this pack and finding that she likes not being alone more than she thought. Mal works as a hunter and tracker while she is made a guard of the Pack, keeping the dens and alphas safe from harm along with several other Hybrid and Normal wolves alike. The two settle easily into this life and Nel finds herself letting her guard down. As Teia arrives however and then disappears nearly as quickly, the Rogue Pack appears to destroy the Swift River Pack. Nel, being too far away to help but hidden and able to see the murder of the pack's Alphas, quickly runs to warn her friend Mal. Upon finding him, they notice the pack is already nearly completely wiped out and have no choice but to flee the area. The two begin to make their way slowly away from the Rogue Pack, hoping to find a place where the can be safe from farther attacks. Nel silently vows to never let her guard down like that again, and continues to follow Mal in the hope that they will be safe from now on. |
Abilities |
Nel doesn't have very many special abilities per say. She never developed any particularly special traits other than those she was born with. She cannot fly, like most Hybrids, but she does have powers that give her an edge in battle. Both Angel and Demon Hybrids uses powers rather than weapons. This similarity between Hybrids is what makes it so difficult to tell the difference between Angel and Demon Hybrids.
Nel is a psychic wolf, and uses her mind to her advantage. While she cannot completely take control of another wolf, she can use her mental powers to whisper her will into the minds of others. To do this however, she has to make eye contact with the person she is trying to do this to. While to stronger enemies, this is little more than distracting, it can prove useful. She can also use her mind to lift an object several feet into the air and drop it on her foes, though this is straining on her body and mind. She can also use her powers to simply directly attack the mind, causing mental damage that can translate to psychical if done enough, even causing the loss of some senses temporarily. Her attacks are useless if the enemy is too far away to look in her eyes or out of the range she can lift objects, and she is too open to close range attacks. Nel is a mid range fighter. |
