Personality |
Rage often comes across as timid and easily frightened. Because of this, he is often seen hiding behind Malice and not making many decisions for himself. In his earlier years he was often kind and gentle (for a demon), and though he didn't shy away from killing Angels, he didn't exactly find the same pleasure in it as the rest of his race, often questioning why it was done.
Rage's personality change makes him easily persuaded to do most anything his sister tells him to, but he still feels close to both of his sisters and doesn't really like the idea of the rising feud that's growing between them. He sides farther with Malice since he's closer to her, but he doesn't enjoy her ideas. He can however be pushed to a point where he becomes enraged and will destroy whatever is in his path until his anger subsides, something that Malice uses to her advantage. Rage's aura, the shade of his heart, often comes across as a dull yellow orange, almost pastel in color. This color represents the fact that he often hides behind others and doesn't like conflict, but the anger that hides just beneath the surface of his frightened eyes. The fiery rage he feels cannot be contained, and when he is angry, the color of his soul becomes bright and vibrant. |
Earlier Life |
When Rage was a pup, he was playful and energetic, always chasing after his two sister and asking him to play with him. When he was old enough to enter the war their race had been fighting in for centuries, he didn't hesitate to kill as he had been taught, but wasn't entirely pleased about the idea. Closer to Malice, he would often voice his concerns to her when no one else was around. Malice, afraid of what their parents or sister might think, never told anyone what was said behind closed doors. Rage was confused as to why he had to kill, and what made the Angels themselves so unworthy of life. However in battle he never hesitated or showed any remorse for killing.
As the Battle of Broken Skulls grew closer, Rage began to notice how much harder both of his sisters were trying to work to impress their parents. Not exactly wanting to take the throne, he supported them by not making himself try and catch up to them. It soon became clear however that his powers over fire could effect how he acted in battle as well. If he became angered or scared on the battlefield, he would react violently and destroy his enemies and sometimes even his allies. This berserk mode however wasn't seen as a bad thing by the demons, who thought victory over the Angels was more important than lives lost, even from their own side. During the Battle of Broken Skulls however, Rage was battling near his parents, his fires causing massive damage. He witnessed the way that Nick and his army approached his parents and the terrifying way that he killed them, which scared the pup and brought out the fires of his berserk mode, effectively driving away Nick and his Angels and nearly hurting his two sisters in the process. Dark fled from him, something Malice never forgot, but Malice approached him and braved his flames to calm him down. Once he calmed down and he realized who it was, the memories caused him to develop some sort of PTSD. He basically blamed himself for freezing and not helping his parents, for causing the ever growing rift between his two sisters, and for destroying the lives of his own kind when he went berserk. Malice's cool and demanding presence however was familiar and comforting when everything else had become so terrifying for the traumatized pup. Malice was kind to him when he was scared an no one else was around, and he took to doing what he told her and letting her basically think for him. Though he didn't like his sister's ideas (she confided in him and he in her when they were alone), he always sided with her over Dark. Whenever there was a battle, Malice almost always induced Rage's berserk mode, which she alone could control and calm in the heat of the battle. This brought yet more trust from Rage to his eldest sister, because no one else could withstand his flames. Mostly ignored by his fellow demons for attention on Dark and Malice, Rage only sought the approval of his sisters. He only began to train himself then so that Malice would approve of him. |
Abilities |
Rage's Demon Form is called "Hell's Fire". The dark orange fur is fire retardant, as is his yellowish underbelly. It needs to be, because the mane that runs down his back and reptile like tail is a flickering ball of flames. On the backs of all four paws, more fires spring to life and set the ground beneath him ablaze as he runs. The lightly orange colored eyes glow brighter when his berserk mode is reached, and the flames on his body grow larger and hotter.
Rage's flames can suck moisture out of the air when he is fighting, and the flames that adorn his body can cause fires all around him as he moves. In addition, he can raise fires by altering the heat in the air around him to start small flames which he can grow into massive walls of fire. These walls of fire become too hard for him to control, and they continue to run wild long after he has left his demon form. Rage's berserk mode allows him to control these walls of fire, breathe fire, and increase the heat of his flames. In his berserk mode he will attack just about anything that gets in his way unless Malice specifically tells him to not hurt someone, and then they can walk away unscathed. His berserk mode, while it appears to be him with a complete lack of self control, makes it possible for him to control his fires more accurately and with a more deadly precision. Rage is a mid to close range fighter in his normal mode, and can reach some long range attacks in his berserk mode. |
